Is laser hair removal actually permanent?

The short answer to this question is yes, but it can take some time and patience to get there. Laser hair removal usually takes around 6-8 sessions set 4-6 weeks apart for maximum effectiveness. However, results vary depending on various factors. You may need one or two yearly maintenance treatments to ensure continued effectiveness.

How many sessions are needed?

During your consultation, Badia Radouani, our experienced laser technician, will provide you with a realistic assessment of how many treatments are required for permanent hair reduction.
For long-term benefits, many factors must be taken into account. Some examples include your age, ethnicity, weight, medication, diet, metabolism, hair type, hair growth cycle, hair and skin colour, and hormones.
For instance, because hair grows in cycles, we maximise the laser’s ability to destroy hair growth by doing the session’s mid-growth cycle—roughly every 4-6 weeks. Once we identify your hair growth cycle, we can determine how often to plan your treatments. Someone with lighter skin and darker hair takes around 6-8 sessions and darker skin 6-10 sessions with 4-6 week intervals. This treatment cycle enables our permanent laser hair removal treatments to reduce or eliminate hair growth. Once your treatment plan is complete, you may need maintenance treatments one to two times a year.

Is the equipment used a “ true Laser” or an “IPL”?

**Beware!

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is NOT a laser at all. Although filters may be used with an IPL in an attempt to focus the energy and mimic the “direct beam” of a true laser, IPLs are not capable of this. Therefore, efficacy and safety may be compromised. While IPLs can be effective for some cosmetic procedures, experience supports the more powerful, better focused, direct beam of energy, recognized from a “true laser” as not only safer but substantially more effective for hair reduction.

Step by Step Laser Hair Removal Procedure :

Make sure that the treatment area is well shaved

Ensuring that the skin is smooth before treatment begins takes just a few seconds. Your technician will make sure that no hair interferes with the treatment area, and helps avoid the risk of micro burns.

Marking the treatment area

Outlining the treatment area with a white cosmetic pencil serves as a guide for your technician. It helps ensure the entire surface is treated without going over the same area twice or missing any spots.

Skintel Reader

Performing skintel reader test spot measurements for each area treated, your technician will apply thin coat of LuxLotion to the select spot, place the skintel Reader window into full contact with the skin, and hold it until the measurement is complete

Applying a “ Lux Lotion Protectant"

At the start of each session, a lux lotion is applied on the entire surface of the treatment area, seems improve the contact between the skin and the applicator by helping the applicator slide smoothly and protecting the skin from burns.

Setting device parameters

Adjusting the parameters of the device is part of the treatment process. Since every person is unique, your technician will consider several factors when assessing your individual needs; including the treatment area, your phototype (skin colour), the texture, colour and density of your hair. The technician will ask for your hair to be visible then test a few pulses to ensure the best settings for your treatment after treatment, this indicates a good response to the treatment.
